  2. Blending logic diagram
  3. Blending logic diagram
  4. 1. Selecting blend grade: NPK fertilizer blend grade is chosen based on the following points:
  5. 1.The client's request 2. Targeted plant growth stage 3.The requirements of a particular crop
  6. Blending logic diagram
  7. 2. Selecting raw materials: At this stage two points are taken into account :
    1.Requested nitrogen form
    2.Cost of raw materials
  8. Blending logic diagram
  9. 3. Getting the best mathematical combination: Mathematical permutations and combinations are made in this step to get the requested grade of NPK , and in this step the need for fillers or not is determined.
  10. Blending logic diagram
  11. Blending logic diagram
  12. 4. Calculating full chemical composition: After determining the required quantity of each raw material we need to calculate the concentrations of other elements attached with raw materials (secondary nutrients , micronutrients ,and impurities)
  13. Blending logic diagram
  14. 5. Dose formulation meet regulations? In this step the expected analysis of the fertilizer must be reviewed to make sure the agreement with the local laws and regulations
    for example:
•In Egypt the chloride concentration in fertilizer should not exceed 3%.
•In arid and semi-arid regions the presence of sodium is not favored because it is harmful to soil.
•In saline soils the salt index of the blended fertilizer must be at the least possible value.

  17. 6. Check CRH for each pair of raw mat: CRH (Critical Relative Humidity): Is the relative humidity at which the fertilizer begins to absorb moisture from the air (at a given temperature).
  18. Whenever CRH number dropped whenever fertilizer moisture absorption become easier and faster, and this leads to:
  19. 1.Fertilizer with more agglomerates and less free flow. 2.High Moisture level leads to caking.
  20. 6. Check CRH for each pair of raw mat. : From this figure it is clear that:
1.Each type of fertilizer has CRH value.
  21. 6. Check CRH for each pair of raw mat. :2.When mixing two types of fertilizers the CRH value for the mixture often less than the raw materials.
  22. Blending logic diagram
  23. Blending logic diagram
  24. 7. Check chemical compatibility for each pair
  25. Blending logic diagram
  26. Blending logic diagram
  27. 8. Check end product chemical properties: The final product must have some qualities that give it a competitive advantage in the market such as:
1.Higher degree of solubility (depend on the solubility of raw materials forming the blended fertilizer).
2.pH suitable for the area in which the fertilizer is used.
  28. Blending logic diagram
  29. Blending logic diagram
  30. Blending logic diagram
  31. 9. Check end product physical properties: Physical tests must be done to the end product to check:
    1.Caking tendency of the blend.
    2.Segregation tendency of fertilizer constituents.
